From Building My Own Team to Becoming a Good Team Member

by Ming Chu

Bowling Event

n April 25, our Healthcare IT team held a bowling night.

I did not win for strikes or spares.

I got the trophy for Most Gutter Balls.

It made everyone laugh, including me.

The next morning, walking into the hospital, I was reminded again.

We do not just work in an office.

We serve in a place where lives are saved.

In the past, when I was building my own company, I spent so much energy trying to find the right team.

I searched for the perfect balance of skills and personalities.

My focus was on building something of my own.

Now I am learning something different.

What it means to simply be a good team member.

To serve where I am placed.

To support those who bring healing to others.

A healthy team makes room for both joy and purpose.

Chemistry is not only built through projects.

It is built through shared moments.

“Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself.”

Even a small trophy for gutter balls can be a reminder. Joy and humility go hand in hand.
